Founder and COO

Welcome to Genesis Comfort Care. My name is Lorene Mackenzie, Founder and Chief Operations Officer of Genesis Comfort Care in the Kitchener Waterloo and Guelph Region. Having been a caregiver for a number of years, I understand the level of stress and pressure the near and dear go through. As an individual who led an active life and enjoyed intellectual conversations, my mission was to ensure my clients not only receive the care they need, but live their life with dignity and grace.

I worked at a leading Financial Company for many years. In 2006 I had the opportunity to take care of my mother-in-law as her health declined. I felt blessed taking care of her and being by her side, to ensure she not only received the care she needed, but lived her life to the fullest. My passion continued to grow as a people person and I later decided to pursue my Diploma in Hairstyling and Aesthetician. Eventually, I found my true calling as a love for caring for the elderly began, I like to treat every one as my family and treated my elders as how I would like to be treated when I am their age.

Our target clients are seniors 65 years and older, who need help with daily living activities such as Personal Care, Companionship, Housekeeping, Meal Preparation, Medication Reminder, Respite Care, Hospital to Home, Daily Care, Hourly Care and more. We are pleased to care for seniors who live at home, with family, in retirement communities, nursing homes, long term care centres or in the hospital.

Genesis Comfort Care offers a unique home care program, that is focused on the personal needs and individual preferences of the client and their family. Our team diligently ensures your loved one is always receiving the highest level of care by learning and understanding the care recipient’s routine, challenges and home environment. We conduct ongoing evaluation and maintain an open channel of communication with the extended family for a total peace of mind. At Genesis Comfort Care of Waterloo Region and Guelph, we provide the same high quality care that we would provide to our own loved ones.

All of our caregivers are employees of our company, not licensed contractors and are bonded, licensed, and insured. To become a part of the family, caregivers must also pass a thorough background and reference check and we require all caregivers to attend senior care training with our highly educated staff where they learn and have ongoing access to courses about senior home care.

Our mission is to change the way the world ages. We provide seniors with quality care that enables them to live happier, healthier lives. Our services are distinguished by the caliber of our caregivers, the responsiveness of our staff and our expertise in live-in care. We embrace a positive, balanced comfort care approach to aging, centered on the evolving needs of seniors.
